General Information

Science is the most important element in the development of humanity. One of the most fundamental qualities of human beings is the "desire to know". Knowledge is the basic foundation of science and existence.

The enrichment of communication opportunities increases the production of knowledge rapidly. The accelerated communication requires visualization and visual design in the transmission of this intensive and unlimited information. The visual design of the communication process undoubtedly constitutes the "Art of Graphic Design" and the field of professionals trained in this art.

The Graphic Department, which started its education in 1985, trains creative designers who can solve all kinds of visual design problems and use the advanced equipment by the necessities of the time.

The Graphic Department’s contemporary education program makes the students actively use the software, hardware, tools and equipment they need in the design process in printed and digital environments with the help of theoretical and practical courses. The department enables students to actualize their course related projects within the school with two Mac studios, a photography studio and a multi-purpose printing workshop where flat, intaglio and relief printing techniques can be applied. Students learn the various stages of the design process, starting with conceptual design in classrooms and workshops prepared considering their educational needs. They have the opportunity to share their projects prepared within the courses with other students and academic staff by presenting them in the exhibition halls within the department.

Thanks to its close relationship with the market, the Graphic Department provides an environment for students to face real design problems and to make institution supported projects that can be brought to life. The professional development of students is supported by extracurricular activities such as interviews, conferences, workshops, exhibitions and competitions organized within the department. Students are encouraged to participate in national and international competitions by the school. As a result of this approach, students have received various awards in many branches of visual communication design in Turkey and abroad. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in exhibitions and workshops in different universities and countries, to study and intern abroad through student exchange programs.

Graduates of this department can work in many fields related to visual communication such as graphic design workshops, advertising agencies, publishing organizations and digital production companies or become a researcher.
