    Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, founded in 1958, formed the basis of Anadolu University.     At Anadolu University, social and cultural activities are as important as education and scientific research. The University frequently holds scientific events such as conferences, seminars, panels, congresses and symposia, and cultural activities such as exhibitions, stage performances and concerts. In addition to smaller conference halls in each unit, Atatürk Culture and Arts Center, Congress Center and Cinema Anadolu on Yunusemre Campus house many activities throughout the year.

Weeks Topics
1. Weeks The aim of this course is to educate students who have knowledge about the geopolitical importance of Turkey and the development of population, urbanization, industrialization, regional imbalances in Turkey and have the ability to reason on these issues. In this course, github and Mergen page, where the course resources are located, will be introduced as an introduction to the course, and information about the course and exams will be given.
2. Weeks In this course, the basic differences between place, space and location will be explained and the concepts of geography and its sub-branches (physical, economic and human) and geopolitics will be introduced. Then the international organizations of which Turkey is a member (United Nations, NATO, etc.) will be introduced. Finally, the historical course of Turkey-European Union relations will be emphasized.
3. Weeks In this course, basic physical geography concepts such as mountain, plain, plateau will be introduced to the students and then information about Turkey's climate and the factors affecting the climate will be given.
4. Weeks In this course, students will learn the relations between the basic elements of physical geography and human geography and its sub-disciplines such as population geography and economic geography.
5. Weeks In this chapter, we will examine the geographical factors affecting the distribution of population in Turkey and the distribution of population on the basis of provinces and regions from a historical perspective. Then, information about rural and urban population will be given and finally, in this course, population policies implemented in Turkey will be discussed.
6. Weeks As a continuation of the previous week, this course will focus on the change in population structure in Turkey. Concepts such as aging population, population pyramid, population by educational status, crude mortality and birth rate, schooling rate will be emphasized and the development in this context in Turkey will be emphasized. In this section, students will also be informed about the classification of statistical regional units as NUTS-1, NUTS-2 and NUTS-3.
7. Weeks In the week before the exam, the topics covered from the beginning of the course will be reviewed and examples of the types of questions that are likely to appear in the midterm exam will be shared.
8. Weeks In this course, the issue of internal migration in Turkey will be emphasized. The distinction between internal migration and external migration will be made and the factors underlying the phenomenon of migration will be conveyed to the students from a historical perspective in Turkey.
9. Weeks In this course, first, the concept of economic geography will be mentioned and then information about Turkey's economic geography will be given. Then, the most important economic activity in Turkey until the end of the 1950s will be emphasized on the agricultural sector. Information about the history of agriculture, Turkey's land assets and agricultural activities in Turkey will be given.
10. Weeks In this course, the Industrial Revolution, which started in England in the first half of the 1800s, will be introduced and the issues that led to the Industrial Revolution will be mentioned. Then, the last period of the Ottoman Empire and industrialization efforts in Turkey after the proclamation of the Republic will be explained in terms of periods. In addition, students will also be introduced to the concepts of statism, protectionism, private sector-led industrialization, import substitution and liberal economic policies.
11. Weeks In this course, as a continuation of the previous course, Turkey's industrial geography will be emphasized especially after the industrialization move based on the private sector that started with the first durable consumer goods manufacturer industrial enterprise opened in 1959 in Turkey. In addition, information about Organized Industrial Zones and Free Zones where industrial production is carried out in Turkey will be given. Then, information will be given about industrial policies in Turkey in terms of periods. After focusing on the relationship between urbanization and industrialization, information will be given about the wave of urbanization that started in Turkey in the 1950s and the underlying economic and social factors.
12. Weeks In this course, first, the concepts of domestic trade and foreign trade will be emphasized and information about trade activities in Turkey will be given. Then, information about tourism regions and tourism activities in Turkey will be given. Finally, transportation types will be discussed and the factors affecting transportation activities in Turkey will be emphasized.
13. Weeks In this course, the historical development course of provinces in Turkey in terms of income level and the World Bank's income level classification will be given. Then, the concept of income distribution will be introduced and a comparison of income distribution at the level of provinces and regions in Turkey will be made. From this point of view, information will be given about the historical adventure of inter-regional development differences in Turkey. Finally, in this course, evaluations will be made in terms of Human Development Index and Socio-economic Development Level of Provinces.
14. Weeks In the week before the exam, the topics covered from the beginning of the course will be reviewed and examples of the types of questions that are likely to appear in the midterm exam will be shared.
