RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

General Information

Research Institute for Individuals with Disabilities was established in 1993 with the Decree Law No. 496 and started its activities in 1994. Currently, the first and only Institute in the field in Turkey. Currently, eight professors, two associate professors, five assist. prof. dr., four lecturers, four research assistants and seven teachers work in the Institute.

There are four departments (Department of Mentally Handicapped, Department of Orthopedically Impaired, Department of Hearing Impaired, Department of Visually Impaired) in the Research Institute for Individuals with Disabilities, while the Mentall Impaired and Orthopedically Impaired Departments are active departments.

The fields of activity of the Research Institute for Individuals with Disabilities;

Performing the developmental, behavioral and educational evaluation (screening, developmental / educational diagnosis) of children with developmental retardation / disability or under risk between 0-8 years of age, individual and / or inclusive group teaching to children with developmental retardation / disabilities between 0-6 years of age To provide options, to provide individual educational support to children with developmental retardation / disabilities in the inclusion process, To develop and / or adapt measurement and evaluation tools, training / intervention (behavioral / developmental) programs (curricula) in the field of developmental retardation / disability, Developmental To prepare national package programs based on cultural variables for the families of children with retardation / disabilities and to support the psychological well-being of families, To prepare scientific and up-to-date informative guide books, brochures and education for experts / educators with developmental retardation / disabilities or working with children at risk seminars to support the other departments of Anadolu University in undergraduate and graduate education and graduate thesis management.
