    Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, founded in 1958, formed the basis of Anadolu University. The Academy was replaced by Anadolu University in 1982, which has gained a well-deserved place as a modern, dynamic and innovative institution among the largest universities not only in Türkiye, but also in the world.

    Kısa adıyla BAP (Bilimsel Araştırma Projeleri), yüksek öğretim kurumlarındaki bilimsel araştırmaların desteklenmesi amacıyla geliştirilmiş bir uygulamadır. Bu uygulama YÖK'ün 01.01.2002 tarihinden geçerli olmak üzere yürülüğe aldığı Yükseköğretim Kurumları Bilimsel Araştırma Projeleri Hakkında Yönetmelik uyarınca gerçekleştirilmektedir. Üniversitemizin tüm öğretim elemanları BAP Komisyonuna başvurarak bilimsel araştırmaları için kaynak alabilirler.

    At Anadolu University, social and cultural activities are as important as education and scientific research. The University frequently holds scientific events such as conferences, seminars, panels, congresses and symposia, and cultural activities such as exhibitions, stage performances and concerts. In addition to smaller conference halls in each unit, Atatürk Culture and Arts Center, Congress Center and Cinema Anadolu on Yunusemre Campus house many activities throughout the year.

Learning Outcomes

  • Define main concepts in English academic writing.
  • Identifies and locates the thesis statement and the topic sentence in an essay and a paragraph respectively.
  • Identifies and locates supporting ideas in essays and paragraphs.
  • Identifies and locates connectors and transitional signals in essays and paragraphs.
  • Identifies and names the different kinds of introduction and conclusion techniques that would interest the reader in essays and paragraphs.
  • Analyses and evaluates academic texts of various rhetorical modes based on their organisation, unity, and content.
  • Analyses narrative, descriptive, and expository paragraph types using critical reading skills and evaluates them based on English academic writing criteria.
  • Writes paragraphs and essays in various academic rhetorical modes based on given topics.
  • Reads and understands texts in English from several different disciplines.
  • Considers the title, the subtitles, and the first and the last paragraphs. Finds out about the author. Identifies the author's purpose and intended audience. Identifies main ideas and supporting details. Summarises the text. Evaluates the text. Takes notes about the ideas and evidence presented in the text during reading. Distinguishes facts from opinions. Distinguishes the difference between reasonable and unreasonable assertions. Considers the kinds of evidence and asses them in terms of relevance, accuracy, and importance. Pays attention to the author's way of using language, structuring the essay, and developing the ideas.
