    Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, founded in 1958, formed the basis of Anadolu University. The Academy was replaced by Anadolu University in 1982, which has gained a well-deserved place as a modern, dynamic and innovative institution among the largest universities not only in Türkiye, but also in the world.

    Kısa adıyla BAP (Bilimsel Araştırma Projeleri), yüksek öğretim kurumlarındaki bilimsel araştırmaların desteklenmesi amacıyla geliştirilmiş bir uygulamadır. Bu uygulama YÖK'ün 01.01.2002 tarihinden geçerli olmak üzere yürülüğe aldığı Yükseköğretim Kurumları Bilimsel Araştırma Projeleri Hakkında Yönetmelik uyarınca gerçekleştirilmektedir. Üniversitemizin tüm öğretim elemanları BAP Komisyonuna başvurarak bilimsel araştırmaları için kaynak alabilirler.

    At Anadolu University, social and cultural activities are as important as education and scientific research. The University frequently holds scientific events such as conferences, seminars, panels, congresses and symposia, and cultural activities such as exhibitions, stage performances and concerts. In addition to smaller conference halls in each unit, Atatürk Culture and Arts Center, Congress Center and Cinema Anadolu on Yunusemre Campus house many activities throughout the year.

Profile of the Programme

Philosophy is the rational investigation of foundational truth. For this aim, philosophy introduces the means for a disciplined study of concepts. Philosophy provides the foundation of both social and natural sciences. For this reason, almost all scientists who have been pioneers of their fields and who have brought new prospects and aspects into their fields have also been interested in philosophy. However, philosophy is distinguished from other fields by its own methodology and the nature and depth of its subject matter. Philosophy is after solutions for problems from all aspects of life. Philosophy tries to create techniques to develop thoughts and arguments. As the systematic study of ideas and issues, philosophy can explore concepts and views drawn from science, arts, religion, politics or any other fields. Generally, philosophical investigations focus on the meaning and basis of a concept and its relation to other concepts. Based on the specific subject being studied, philosophy is divided into sub-branches such as Logic, Ethics, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Language, Philosophical Aesthetics, and Political Philosophy. The Undergraduate Programme in Philosophy at Anadolu University consists of three majors, namely, Systematic Philosophy, Logic, and History of Philosophy. The following areas in philosophy are studied by the members of department: Logic, Ethics, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Political Philosophy, History of Philosophy, and Philosophy of History.

Philosophy has identified the following teaching objectives and teaching strategies with the framework of information about the overall structure of the philosophy given above. The teaching objectives of Philosophy are as follows:

TO 1. Acquires the basic truths and concepts questioning rationally to be successful in their academic studies (FEDEK I, II, III, VII)

TO 2. Equipped with the skills of critical perspective, analytical approach, problem solving and creating argument, versatile look, interpret and draw conclusions required for a successful philosophy training (FEDEK II, III, VI, VII),

TO 3. Educates students as ethically bound philosophers with the skills expressing themselves, asking philosophical questions, being good at writing, a successful sense of responsibility, creativity, knowing how to learn and self-renewal, being open to criticism, self-confidence, producing original ideas in the areas (FEDEK IV, VIII, X, XI),

TO 4. Educates students to sustain professional and personal development by taking advantage of all sorts of resources within the framework of lifelong learning, which is also in the vision of the university (FEDEK IX),

TO 5. Has the professional and social ethics awareness (FEDEK X),

TO 6. Chooses contemporary tools that are required for field application, uses and develops them and uses the skills information technologies effectively (FEDEK V).

Teaching strategies that the Department of Philosophy determined in accordance with the purposes given above are as follows:

TS 1. Provides the most modern educational facilities and settings within the bounds of possibility (FEDEK I, II, V),

TS 2. Gains awareness about learning at least one foreign language at B1 level in Common European Framework, supports and encourage students to learn a foreign language (FEDEK VIII),

TS 3. Educates students to understand the basic theories and concepts in philosophy (FEDEK I, VI),

TS 4. Educates students to develop the ability to think and analyze multi-faceted (FEDEK II, VI, IX, XI),

TS 5. Gains different perspectives in different philosophical issues by inviting experts in the field to give seminars (FEDEK II, III, VI, XI),

TS 6. Does literature research for the graduation thesis, assignments, reports and presentations, uses computer and foreign language (if applicable) skills, ensures creativity and critical thinking (FEDEK II, III, IV, V, VI, VIII, X, XI),

TS 7. Focuses on specific areas in accordance with the student's own personal characteristics and the wishes through the elective courses and / or is knowledgeable about global issues like environment, culture, technology, art (FEDEK IV, V, VII, XI).
