Suspension of Military Service
Military Service Recruitment Bureau is informed about the registered students of the faculty who must complete their military service to 31 October after the completion of the make-up exams. Even if the names of those students are sent to the Military Service Recruitment Bureau on time, sometimes the authorities may ask our students to support their situation submitting a special document to them. In this case, those students may apply to the Central Bureau and receive the document requıred.
Documents Required by Foreign Countries and Approval of Other Documents
Parents of our some students work abroad and they obtain some rights from the country where they live because their children are studying in a higher education institution. The Central Bureau approves the documents sent by foreign institutions or asked by Social Security Institutions to be used for this purpose. Therefore, the Central Bureau must be applied for the approval of the studentship documents sent from abroad by mail or personally. Other bureaus will give you the necessary information, but they will not approve any documents.
Some students demand an ordinary proof of student status to be sent abroad. If you state your demand explicitly, the bureaus will give you this document.
Graduation and Post-Graduation
Students graduating from four-year programs in the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Business Administration, and the Open Education Faculty are granted a Bachelor’s degree diploma and students graduating from two-year programs are granted an associate degree diploma.
Diploma
Diplomas are ready 15 days after the date students learn their final exam grades or make-up exam grades.
Before this period of 15 days, no document indicating students’ graduation can be submitted to students. For this reason, students must not demand for any other document stating their graduation other than the diploma from the Deanship, the Central Bureau and other bureaus; such demands will definitely be rejected.
All diplomas are sent to bureaus to be issued to students after all graduation procedures are completed.
After the 15-day preparation period, the graduates can receive diplomas from the affiliated bureaus by going there personally with their student ID card and putting their signature. Diplomas cannot be sent via mail; they are submitted to either the student or his/her assignee. Nobody can receive the diploma other than those people.
If students have tuition debts, they cannot receive their diploma as long as they pay it.
Students whose names, surnames or date of births changed as a result of marriage or on the basis of legal decisions, and the ones who did not use their second names during their period of study must make all the necessary changes and adjustments in accordance with the explanations in Article II. 2.7.2 of this guide. Those students must submit an official document proving their identity so that the identity information used in the diplomas can be checked.
In addition, students should apply to Higher Education Council in order to receive a document which proves that their diploma from the open education program is equivalent to diplomas of foreign universities.
Diploma Supplement
Diploma supplement is an international document submitted to students together with the diploma and it aims to give detailed information about the degree received by the graduate, i.e. the level, the content and the function of the degree. This document also includes information about the national education system.
Diploma supplement is an additional document to diploma and it is not used in place of a diploma; it is valid only together with a diploma.
One of the most important aims of the Diploma Supplement is to enhance transparency in higher education and to allow degrees to be evaluated fairly in terms of academic and professional aspects. Diploma supplement does not include any judgement or suggestion.
The diploma suppements in English have been given to the students at the Open Education Faculty without any charge since the academic year 2005-2006 on their graduation.
Transcript
Graduates are also given a transcipt in addition to the diploma and diploma supplement. A transcript shows the courses that students took and passed during their higher education. Students graduated in and before the academic year 1999-2000 or the ones who cancelled their registration can receive transcripts from the Central Bureau, and the ones who graduated or cancelled their registration after the academic year 1999-2000 can take their transcripts from OEF bureaus.

If students lose their diploma or the diploma is in a unusable state, a new diploma identical to the previous one is prepared. The front side of this diploma includes the expression “Duplicata”.
