Many e-learning practices have been designed and developed in the Computer Aided Education (CAE) Unit since its establishment in 1989 at the Open Education Faculty. Among these practices are Computer-based Academic Counseling Centers, Multimedia Practice Software, Internet Based Trial Examinations, Internet-based Information Management Program, Internet-based Practice Software, electronic course books and television programs published on the Internet, and Internet-assisted third and fourth year courses of the Distance English Language Teaching program.
The design, development and the maintenance of the published services are achieved by the CAE Unit. The staff of the CAE Unit includes 20 full-time experts such as instructional designers, developers, and animators. Moreover, 50 students from various departments of Anadolu University work as part-time staff in the CAE Unit for voicing, preparing animations and graphics, and developments of units.
More than 250 academic personnel working in different departments of Anadolu University support the instructional design and development process working as subject area experts, editors, instructional designers, etc.
Two vocalization studios, one video studio, one test laboratory and one online academic counseling room are used in the development process. The developed instructional software is published via three servers including 32 processors. Internet lines of 200 Mbps Metro Ethernet band widths are used for publication via TTNET. In addition, ULAKNET lines of the university with 70 Mbps capacity are used for this purpose.
