The Open Education Faculty organized an international Open and Distance Education Symposium in honor of the 20th anniversary of its establishment. The aim of the symposium was to promote the exchange of information and interaction among people concerned to determine new objectives and strategies by evaluating new and different perspectives that new technologies has brought in the open education field, discussing the research, practices and projects carried out to meet the increasing and changing educational needs of Turkey.
Many professors from universities in Turkey and abroad attended the symposium to present their papers or posters. An information and communication exhibition where enterprises also attended was organized.
Anadolu University Distance Education System gives its students in the whole country the chance to participate in many social and cultural activities. The theater show and symphony orchestra concerts in Ankara, Uşak, Çanakkale, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and Lüleburgaz in the academic year 2003-2004 drew great interest among students.
