GENERAL INFORMATIONThe Faculty of Law in Anadolu University was founded in 1993. Even though we are a young Faculty we have been developing rapidly. Our Faculty is recognised as being in the top five law faculties in Turkey. The Faculty consists of three departments: Public Law, Economy and Public Finance, Private Law. The departments do not take students, but support the education in the Faculty.
The Faculty of Law has a teaching staff of over 60, including 9 full-time and 18 visiting professors. Many of the teaching staff has professional qualifications, and all are actively involved in research in their particular areas of speciality. Our teaching staffs also provide academic counselling for students. Both academic and administrative staff is friendly and will offer assistance with any problems you may have.
PURPOSE
The Faculty of Law aims to educate qualified professionals to work in all areas of law. We educate expert lawyers to serve as law consultants, judges, public prosecutors and lawyers.
PROGRAMS OFFERED
The faculty offers Bachelor of Art (BA), and also Master of Laws (LL.M) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) programs jointly with the Institute of Social Sciences. For LL.M. and Ph.D. programs, the Institute and faculty announce their requirements for selecting students. Certain exams are applied to the applicants before they can be placed in LL.M. and Ph.D. programs. The degrees from postgraduate programs are awarded by the Institute.
B.A.(Bachelor of Art)
For B.A., students are selected by Student Selection and Placement Center according to the student?s score in the Student Selection Exam and student?s choices. About 130 students are admitted to the faculty each year. The duration of the programme is 4 years. Students must pass all the courses and obtain a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.00 before they can graduate.
The official language of instruction is Turkish. Students who choose can attend a one-year English preparatory school before taking the faculty courses.
LL.M. (Master of Laws)
The students are required to take courses and prepare and defend a thesis based on their research. Students require approximately two years to complete the Master of Laws Degree.
Ph.D. (Doctorate of Philosophy)
The Doctorate degree requires course and research. The students will conduct original research and prepare a thesis, then make an oral defense of their completed research. Students require about three-four years beyond the Master?s degree to complete a Ph.D. program.
Assessment and Evaluation
In B.A. program one mid-term examination and a final examination is given in each course besides quizzes and homework. The instructor has flexibility to give midterm examinations as written or oral (for handicapped students) test. A minimum attendance of 70% to the lectures is compulsory.

FACILITIES
The Faculty has its own law library, computer lab with internet access, a conference room, seven classrooms, a classroom designed as a courtroom (where moot cases, tutorials and some conferences on career opportunities take place) and a student cafe. The building also has disability access.
