The Faculty of Humanities was founded in 1993. The Faculty started with the Departments of History, Sociology, Art History and Classical Archaeology. It has extern and intern students for the first two years. The Department of Art History and Department of Archaeology were divided into two separate departments in the academic year of 1998-1999. Then, the Department of Turkish Language and Literature was founded in the academic year of 1999-2000 and the Department of Philosophy was founded in the academic year of 2007-2008. Students of the the Department of Turkish Language and Literature attend compulsory one-year-English prep school. Students of other departments can attend one-year-English prep school. The objective of the Faculty is to train the students as competent experts in fields of Archaeology, Philosophy, History of Art, Sociology, History and Turkish Language and Literature as well as to bring to light, to protect and to hand on our cultural values in a scientific framework. Graduates of the Faculty of Humanities can find career opportunities in academy, teaching, private and public agencies.
